Janet was on an access course which when completed would enable her to train as a social worker. Janet was also on an approved list of 'appropriate adults', volunteers who can be asked by the police to sit in on interviews with minors or vulnerable adults in order to assist them and safeguard their rights. Following the phone call she left the house and arrived at Gloucester police station where she was simply told to assist a 52 year old male. Her duty as an 'appropriate adult' was to ensure that the male understood the questions put to him by the police. The name of the male to be questioned was Frederick Walter Stephen West. Ganadora de 3 premios BAFTA, Adulto Responsable está basada en la historia real del asesino en serie Fred West y su esposa, Rose West, y estrenará en Europa Europa el lunes 12 de junio a las 22 hs (repitiendo cada jueves a la medianoche). La pareja vivió en Inglaterra, en la llamada Casa de los Horrores de Gloucester Street, donde se supone que torturaron y mataron al menos a once mujeres, incluidas dos de sus hijas.

Cuando comienzan los interrogatorios se solicita la asistencia de un “adulto responsable” (Appropiate Adult), cuya función sirve para que los menores de 17 años o los adultos con problemas de aprendizaje entiendan el curso que va tomando la investigación. El elenco está integrado por Dominic West, Monica Dolan, Emily Watson, Monica Dolan, Robert Glenister y Sylvestra Le Touzel.
